You examine all you’ve said and done,

The countless races you have run,

There’s nothing new under the sun.
 

Wiles keep on working in the flesh,

Without the Lord there is no rest,

For everything is meaningless.

It’s nothing new, it’s

Vanity of vanities . . .

No matter what you try, it’s destined to be,

Vanity of vanities--it all repeats itself continually. 

I see . . .

     that I won’t be . . .

             useful to the calling . . . empty.

No, I want to be truthful in my calling.
 

See a place where Satan has his throne,

Where he’s exalted where he’s known,

The seeds of darkness he has sown.

Know whatever bondage you are in,

Will surely steal the day again,

That which is not of faith is sin.

Vanity of vanities.

So many megalomaniacal dreams . . .

Vanity of vanities:

Beware of Satan’s diabolical schemes . . .

To hurt you, to hold you, to keep you fruitless and falling.

He wants to destroy you, to keep you endlessly falling... 

I’ve seen deception with my eyes,

I’ve been susceptible to lies,

So I will pray to recognize . . .

The powers and the principalities,

That lie in wait for you and me,

To tempt us all with Vanity.
 

Vanity of vanities:

No matter where you look you’re destined to see . . .

Vanity of vanities.

You’ll just repeat yourself continually.

I see that you won’t be useful to the calling, empty.

No, I want to be . . .
                        used to keep you . . . from falling.
