The Year of Our Lord
Luke 3:21-22
When all the people were being baptized, Jesus
was baptized too.
And as he was praying, heaven was opened and the Holy Spirit descended on him
in bodily form like a dove.
And a voice came from heaven: "You
are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased."
1. The Spirit of God was upon us
In his name we were anointed
We preached good news to the poor
And we healed the broken hearted
We proclaimed liberty to the
captives
We set free all the prisoners who
were bound among us
in the year of our Lord. It was the
year of our Lord…
…the acceptable
year of our Lord.
Luke
4: 16-19 Jesus went to
And he stood up to read. The scroll of the prophet Isaiah was handed to him.
Unrolling it, he found the place where it is written:
"The Spirit of the Lord
is on me, because he has anointed me to preach
good news to the poor.
He has
sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the
blind,
to release the oppressed, to
proclaim the year of the Lord's favor."
2. The Spirit of God was upon us; In his name we’ve been anointed
to preach Good News
to the poor and to heal the broken hearted
To proclaim
To set
free all the prisoners who are bound among us in the year of our Lord
It is the year of our Lord. It’s the
acceptable year of our Lord
“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst
for righteousness for they shall be
filled.”
Yes we
shall be filled.
(
Luke 4:20-21 Then Jesus rolled up
the scroll, gave it back to the attendant and sat
down.
The eyes of everyone in
the synagogue were fastened on him, and he began by saying to them,
"Today
this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing."
This is the year of our Lord. It’s the year of our Lord
It’s the acceptable year of our Lord
The Spirit of God is upon us;
In his name we’ve been anointed
To preach good news to the poor and to heal the broken hearted;
To proclaim liberty in
To set free all the prisoners who are found among us in the year of our Lord.
It is the year of our Lord. It’s the acceptable year of our Lord.
Isaiah 61:1-4
"The Spirit
of the Lord GOD is upon
Me, Because the LORD has
anointed Me; To preach good tidings to the poor;
He has sent Me to heal the
brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives, And the opening of the
prison to those who are bound;
To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, And the day of vengeance of our God;
To comfort all who mourn, To console
those who mourn in Zion, To give them beauty for ashes,
The oil of joy for mourning, The
garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; That they may be called trees of
righteousness,
The planting of the LORD, that He may
be glorified. And they shall rebuild the old ruins, They
shall raise up the former desolations,
And they shall repair the ruined
cities, The desolations of many generations.”
