Still a Prisoner        Audio Track for:  Still a Prisoner

Oh Lord, I didn’t know you

Then someone told me about you

That You came to set me free

To bind up my wounds and heal my disease

You gave up Your life for me

Then I wanted to know you

So I came to you and I told you

That I would live for you

And I would give my life up for you

I said I would die for you

But I was a prisoner

Bound up in my flesh

I’d satisfy the old desire

Beside the road that leads to death

You showed me crowds of starving children

I heard them crying out for some bread

I sadly watched for a little while

But then I turned channels instead

Oh Lord, I know you’re the answer

I want you to be Lord and Master

But for so long I’ve tried

The lust of the flesh

And lust of the eyes

In my own strength the pride of life

I’ve been the prisoner bound up in the flesh

Satisfy some old desire just like a slave to selfishness

While the children still are starving (the ones who have no home)

I might stop and talk to them on the streets

But then I go back to my own

Oh Lord, I see another struggling sister and brother

You came to set them free

To bind up their wounds and heal their disease

Lord, show them what you’ve shown me

You are the Alpha and Omega give them deliverance from their fears

I seek what I’ve heard prophesied you will restore their wasted years

Show us the way of your salvation

Show us the way of righteousness

Give us deliverance from the evil one

Give us deliverance from the flesh

(Why do I do what I don’t wanna do?)

(Why don’t we do what we know we ought to do?)
Wretched man that I am; who will rescue me?

So many prisoners bound in selfishness

So many prisoners on the road that leads to death

So many prisoners bound up in the flesh

So many prisoners bound in emptiness

So many prisoners slaves to selfishness

     So many prisoners…
